The ENGLISH KILLS PROJECT (EKP) will present a series of public and community oriented events during the Bushwick Open Studios weekend: June 6-7th, Sat-Sun, 11am-6pm @ 447-455 Johnson Ave.

The EKP is named after English Kills, a tributary of Newtown Creek, which is part of its federally designated Superfund site. English Kills is a public waterway, that has no public access. It is also the most polluted tributary of Newton Creek.

The ENGLISH KILLS PROJECT aims to introduce our fellow residents and visitors to English Kills on this empty parking lot at the base of of the creek. It would be the first time to safely see and experience the creek in our Bushwick neighborhood!

The ENGLISH KILLS PROJECT asks "What Do You Want to See In English Kills?"

In this series of events, workshops and performances the EKP demonstrates how artists, art making and citizens can socially engage our community to inform, practice and re-imagine how this distress, contaminated and slowly reviving creek can create a more healthy and abundant habitat for non-human animals, wildlife and humans.
